Longstanding issue: FDE told to release salaries of daily wagers
The secretary also asked FDE to prepare working papers to change service rules
ISLAMABAD:
The Capital Administration and Development Division (CADD) secretary Khalid Hanif has directed the Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) to release salaries of daily-wage employees without further delay.
In a meeting at the division on Wednesday, change in service rules of teachers, elimination of scale-14 and regularisation of daily wage employees were discussed.
The secretary directed FDE officials to process and forward cases of regularisation of daily-wage employees who fulfill the criteria to CADD.
The secretary also asked FDE to prepare working papers to change service rules.
He said that cases related to grade 16 and above would be presented to Federal Public Service Commission.
Over 800 teachers have not been paid salaries since August 2014. They have been protesting but to no avail. “We have been performing our duties but it seems FDE officials have no interest to resolve our issues,” Ambreen Shahid, a schoolteacher, told The Express Tribune.
Mismanagement, irregularities and inefficiency have marred the performance of FD E which looks after the affairs of 422 educational institutes in the capital.
Ironically, FDE was allocated Rs10 million to pay salaries to teachers but due to negligence and inefficiency, the budget lapsed at the end of the last fiscal year.
