Police on Wednesday arrested a drug inspector in Ahmadpur East after he was caught accepting a bribe.


A spokesman for the DCO’s office said several medical store owners had moved a complaint against Drug Inspector Faisal Hussain, who they said had been taking monthly bribes from eight medical stores in Ahmadpur East.

The spokesman said on Wednesday, medical store owners called Hussain to a hotel where he was offered Rs40,000.

He said the Anti-Corruption Department had been informed about the plan. He said Hussain was arrested when he was caught receiving the money. Following his arrest, medical store owners distributed sweets and danced in front of their shops.
