FAISALABAD:
Dozens of people from Chak 88-JB Dhol Majrah staged a protest demonstration against Dijkot police on Tuesday for not registering a robbery case.
The protesters gathered outside the police station and chanted slogans against police.
Jameel Ali, one of the protesters, said that eight robbers forced their way into Muhammad Ishaq’s house and took away 24-tola jewellery and Rs90,000 on Friday night.
“We filed a complaint with Dijkot police, but they have neither registered a case nor arrested anyone so far,” he said.
“Today, we once again requested police to register a case. Instead, they started pressuring us to withdraw the complaint,” he said. The demonstrators blocked entrance to the main Dijkot bazaar.
Dijkot SHO Syed Iram Raza Shah talked to the protesters and assured them that the robbers would be arrested. He said that a case would also be registered.
The demonstrators dispersed on getting the reassurance.
When contacted, Shah said that police had registered a case and were investigating the robbery.
