FAISALABAD: Faisalabad RPO Muhammad Ehsan Tufail has directed the district police to beef up security of Chinese nationals residing and working in Faisalabad, Chiniot, Jhang and Toba Tek Singh districts.

In a directive issued on Tuesday, the Faisalabad city police officer and Chiniot, Jhang and Toba Tek Singh district police officers were asked to chalk out a comprehensive security plan for Chinese nationals.

He said Chinese nationals living and working in the country could be targeted by terrorist outfits to prevent successful implementation of the Pakistan China Economic Corridor agreement. He asked the police officials to take all possible measures to prevent any damage to the life and property of Chinese nationals.

The police high ups were directed to personally visit the residences and workplaces of Chinese nationals and assure them that the police were cognisant of their security needs. They were also asked to advice the Chinese nationals they meet against extensive travelling.

The RPO further said that check posts should be set up in neighbourhoods where Chinese nationals live and work to check visitors before letting them enter the area. He also sought a thorough search operation in the vicinity of such neighbourhoods.

The directions issued to the police high ups also sought installation of barbed wires at the boundary walls of houses and offices of the Chinese. It said that parking should not be allowed in the area to vehicles without registration number plates.  The RPO said a quick response force should be kept on alert around the clock to cope with any untoward incident.
