The Balochistan Assembly has unanimously passed a resolution demanding that the federal government arrest MQM chief Altaf Hussain under Article 6 of the Constitution of Pakistan. Deputy Speaker Abdul Qudus Bizenjo on Monday chaired the session.

The joint resolution was tabled by Home Minister Mir Sarfaraz Bugti. The resolution states that the assembly condemns the speech of MQM chief Altaf Hussain. “Altaf spoke against the country and sought the help of an enemy state,” he said. “This speech is against Pakistan and the Pakistan Army. It should be taken seriously.”

He said through this resolution, the assembly demands the provincial government to also approach British government to suspend his citizenship and help Pakistan in extradition. “Action must be taken against Altaf under Article 6”, he said.

Speaking on the resolution, Home Minister Mir Sarfaraz Bugti said Altaf Hussain and his party destroyed the peace of Karachi. “Legal action should be taken against him,” he said.

Member of the opposition and JUI-F leader Sardar Abdul Rehman Kehtran was of the view that MQM was responsible for the killings of innocent Baloch and Pashtun living in Karachi.  Information Minister Abdul Rahim Ziaratwal stated the electronic media should ban MQM programmes and should not cover the party’s speeches.
