ISLAMABAD:
The 43-kilometre Taxila-Khanpur-Haripur Highway is being rehabilitated at a cost of Rs66 million, informed former Haripur MNA Omar Ayub, who is running for by-elections on August 16 from the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz. Talking to APP, Ayub said the work would be completed within four months, adding that the road was an important link between Punjab and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and its rehabilitation would boost agriculture, trade and tourism in the area. The highway starts from Taxila on the Peshawar-Rawalpindi Highway, and leads to Khanpur and Haripur. Seven kilometres of the road is in Punjab, and the rest in K-P.
