TEVTA to give students interest-free loans

The TEVTA decided on Monday to provide Rs500 million in loans to its 8,000 graduates under a self-employment scheme. The students will be given interest-free loans through Akhuwat between Rs50,000 and Rs100,000 in selected districts during the current financial year.


The decision was taken at a TEVTA Board meeting, chaired by Irfan Qaiser Shaikh.


Board members Yawar Ali,   Nilofer Sikandar, Akhuwat Director Amjad Saqib, Shahzad Akram of Akhuwat and TEVTA’s Jawad Qureshi also attended the meeting at the TEVTA secretariat.

Shaikh said that the TEVTA’s main focus was on providing financial help to its graduates who wanted to start their own businesses. “The TEVTA is making efforts to provide jobs to its graduates. The provision of interest-free loans to TEVTA graduates will not only help them start their own businesses, but eradicate poverty and bring prosperity,” he said.

Javaid said that business community appreciated the efforts being made by the TEVTA.
