FAISALABAD:
Scores of retired employees of a private bank staged a protest demonstration on Monday demanding a raise in their pensions.
The protesters marched on various city roads and then gathered on the Zila Council Chowk where they staged a sit-in. They blocked the University Road for all kinds of traffic for hours. Talking to reporters, Asadullah Khan, one of the protesters, said that the bank should raise their pensions and other benefits. “It is our legal right. Yet, the bank administration is not paying any heed to our demands,” he said. He said that they would go on a hunger strike if their demands were not met. Later, the protesters gathered outside the main branch of the bank and chanted slogans against the management.
