Summer vacation: Schools to re-open on 15th
Schools in some flood-hit areas would remain closed until the situation turns to normalcy there
LAHORE:
The government has issued a notification announcing that public schools would open on August 15 following summer vacation. Schools in some flood-hit areas would remain closed until the situation turns to normalcy there. School Education Department (SED) Additional Secretary Rana Hasan Akhtar told The Express Tribune nearly 60,000 schools across the province would open as per schedule. However, he said, schools in the flood-hit areas would remain closed. “The DCOs in such areas will decide when to open the schools,” Akhtar said. Many schools along the River Indus have been affected by the recent floods. The notification called upon education EDOs to ensure that school buildings were cleaned, stagnant water was removed, potable water was available and dengue larvae were eradicated from school premises. The departments had announced summer vacations from June 1 until August 15.
