Corruption: Three WASA officials dismissed

LAHORE: Water and Sanitation Agency managing director Chaudhry Naseer sacked three officials on Saturday and ordered that FIRs be lodged against them for embezzling funds. The officials are Accounts Assistants Wajahat Ali, Sheraz Ashfaq and Ali Shah. 16 other officials were fined on similar charges. Ahmad ordered recovery of Rs1 million each from Directors Tariq Mahmood and Mujeeb Raza Warsi. He also deducted their service of two years. The managing director ordered recovery of Rs3.13 million and Rs3.69 million from Executive Engineers Sohail Ahmad Sindhu and Faisal Khurram, respectively. Their five annual increments will be withheld. Krishan Nagar SDO Shaukat Ali has been demoted. Rs1.43 million will be recovered from retired SDO Iqbal Bhutta. Sub Engineer Ali Haider Naqvi’s five annual increments will be stopped.
