Facilitation: WCLA drops NoC requirement for property registration

LAHORE:

The Walled City of Lahore Authority (WCLA) issued a notification last week dropping requirement for obtaining a no-objection certificate (NOC) to register a property.

Director General Kamran Lashari said that two-and-a-half months ago the authority had made an NoC mandatory for the registration of property transactions. He said the town municipal authority had already been dealing with the registration of properties. “There was no need for the WCLA to issue an NOC.  We have decided to remove the requirement,” he said.

Resident cluster president Sheikh Shaukat Ali said the NoC condition had been tedious. “We have been pushing for its removal for some time,” he said. Ali said that in order to obtain an NOC, a property owner had to produce a domicile certificate and registry documents among other papers. He said many of the Walled City residents had been living in the area for decades but did not have those documents.
