Gomal University Academic Staff Association has vowed to support Vice Chancellor Major General (retd) Hamid Shafiq in his development plans for the varsity.
Speaking to a delegation of teachers, GUASA President Muhammad Shoaib Gangohi said conspirators sitting in the University of Peshawar will not be able to materialise their nefarious designs. “Both the GU faculty and administration are united,” he said. Gangohi rejected reports of illegal and surplus appointments and said only 384 out of 547 vacant posts have been filled.
The GUASA president said the university will require more teachers after a new department and an undergraduate programme will be established. “Appointments made in 2008 and 2014 were not in violation of rules set by the Higher Education Commission,” he said. Gangohi added the chief secretary has formed a committee to investigate the appointments.
