High-level meeting: PM, president discuss key national issues

ISLAMABAD:
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and President Mamnoon Hussain on Friday expressed their satisfaction over the ongoing decisive efforts to purge the country of militancy once and for all.

The issues pertaining to national interest including operation Zarb-e-Azb, situation in Balochistan and Sindh, latest flood situation across the country and efforts for rehabilitation of the affectees also came under discussion.

The premier called on the president at the Aiwan-e-Sadr and took him into confidence on developments regarding different national issues and related decisions of the government, a statement issued by the President’s Office said.

The two leaders reviewed in detail the actions being carried out in different parts of the country to eliminate terrorism and improve the law and order situation.


They expressed hope that the situation would further improve as a result of the ongoing efforts. Detailed consultation was also held between PM Nawaz and President Mamnoon over the situation in Balochistan and Sindh. They agreed that the process of constructive measures should continue for improving the situation in the two provinces.

The president advised the PM that the government should go ahead with its efforts to restore law and order and carry out measures for economic development and progress.

Expressing satisfaction over the efforts being carried out in different parts of the country for the rehabilitation of flood stricken people, the two leaders resolved not to leave them in the lurch and mobilise all available resources for their rehabilitation.
