The Lahore University of Management Sciences Model United Nation kicked off this year by holding the Pakistan premiere of the coveted documentary, Countdown to Zero.
The award-nominated documentary, made by the creators of The Inconvenient Truth discusses the growing threat that a nuclear arms race presents. The documentary advocates a world without nuclear weapons. The producers of the documentary have started the Global Zero initiative, aimed at making the world nuclear free in the same spirit.
Anum Sadiq a student who leads the Global Zero movement at Lums said, “It’s important that students realise the importance of the issue because we will be responsible for making this world a safe place.”
LUMUN patron, Shehryar Khan, while introducing the documentary said, “The horror of a nuclear holocaust is real. All it takes is one mistake.” LUMUN has scheduled a video conference with Matt Brown, one of the producers of the film, on Thursday.
