KARACHI:

A three-year-old boy was recovered through a joint venture by Citizens Police Liaisons Committee (CPLC), Anti-Violent Crime Cell (AVCC) and Special Investigation Unit (SIU). Muzzamil Ghaffor was kidnapped, on August 3, while he was playing outside his home in the Ibrahim Hyderi locality.

Following his abduction, the kidnappers demanded Rs1 million ransom from his family and warned them of dire consequences if they approached the police, said the CPLC officials. CPLC chief Zubair Habib said that after the family approached the CPLC to report the kidnapping, Crime Investigation Agency’s chief DIG Abdullah Shaikh formed two special teams along with CPLC.

After technical investigation and number of raids, the teams finally arrested a key suspect, Imtiaz, and recovered the abducted infant safely from Korangi. “The abductee was kept in a bad condition and not given enough food,” said SIU chief SP Farooq Awan.
