LAHORE: Housing, Communication and Works Minister Tanvir Aslam said on Thursday the Rural Roads Programme was the biggest project of its kind in the country. He said 15,000km roads would be rehabilitated and 5,000km new roads would be constructed. He said the first phase of the project had begun and work on the second would begin this month. He said improved roads would help improve the socio-economic condition of villagers. The roads would link rural areas to national highways. These would provide farmers better access to markets. Aslam said on August 7, a seminar on the project would be arranged at 90, The Mall.
