New forum: Businessmen seek representation

The Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) has called on the government to give proper representation to private sector in the new forum established to focus on improving goods production and exports.“This will make the forum’s efforts more effective and well-targeted,” the business body said in a statement on Thursday.

The forum called the Cabinet Committee on Production and Exports will be headed by Finance Minister Ishaq Dar and comprise ministers of commerce, planning, textile, industries and production and national food security.
ICCI Acting President M Ashfaq Hussain Chattha said industrial productivity and exports were on the decline, underlining the need for consultation with the manufacturers and exporters.
