Dengue larvae: FIR lodged against restaurant

It registered a case against three people, including Asif Rafique, the restaurant’s owner

LAHORE: Environment Minister Shuja Khanzada and Environment Protection Department (EPD) Secretary Iqbal Muhammad inspected Yum Chinese restaurant in Gulberg and registered a case against its owner and management after dengue larvae were detected on the premises. An EPD anti-dengue squad, led by the secretary, ordered that the premises be cleaned off the larvae. It registered a case against three people, including Asif Rafique, the restaurant’s owner. The EPD has inspected 23,243 premises in all nine towns over seven months, issued 416 notices and lodged 35 FIRs against owners of various shops and warehouses, scrap yards and under-construction sites for not taking preventive measure against dengue. The department has also inspected 53,626 places for dengue larvae in other districts.
