US Special Representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan (SRAP) Ambassador Dan Feldman hopes talks between Kabul and the Taliban would resume soon to bring lasting peace in the region.
According to DG ISPR Asim Bajwa, Ambassador Feldman met Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif at the General Headquarters on Saturday, during which regional security and stability came under discussion.
Lauding the positive role Pakistan was playing in bringing all parties to the table for peace talks, the US envoy showed special appreciation for General Raheel.

The second round of crucial talks between the Afghan government and Taliban representatives has been postponed following reports of the death of Taliban supremo Mullah Omar, the Foreign Office announced on Thursday.
Pakistan recently hosted the first-ever direct talks between the Afghan government and Taliban representatives at the popular tourist resort of Murree as part of its efforts to put an end to over a decade-old conflict in the war-torn country.

Senior officials from Pakistan, China and the United States also attended the closed-door talks suggesting that the Murree process had the backing of all major international players.
