Bbia Islamabad: CAA inaugurates taxiway

Every successive flight will save an additional seven minutes resulting in benefits for all the airlines

KARACHI:
The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) on Friday said a link taxiway has been inaugurated at the Benazir Bhutto International Airport that allows aircraft to quickly exit the runway after landing. The newly constructed taxiway - Delta - links the main runway with existing taxiway Charlie and allows airlines to save $150 every minute in fuel costs as jets will be able to clear the runway immediately. “The taxiway would help save Rs120 million in merely two to three months.” Benazir Bhutto International Airport has two taxiways, which forced aircraft to taxi-back every landing wasting up to seven minutes on ground. “Every successive flight will save an additional seven minutes resulting in benefits for all the airlines,” a CAA statement said.
