Five murder convicts hanged in jails across Punjab
Executions have now commenced after a month-long hiatus during the month of Ramazan

Five murder convicts were hanged early Friday morning in jails across Punjab, Express News reported.
Murder convicts Nadeem Shahzad, Samar Khan and Muhammad Riaz were hanged in Lahore's Kot Lakhpat Jail amid tight security.
Shahzad and Khan were sentenced to death for the kidnapping and murder of a young child in 1998, while Muhammed Riaz was executed for the murder of two persons in the Shalimar area of Lahore.

Meanwhile in Rawalpindi's Adiala Jail, murder convicts Muhammed Ashraf and Zafar Iqbal were hanged. Both Ashraf and Iqbal were sentenced to death for the murder of two persons during a firing incident.
