During a news conference, Shikarpur SP investigations Asad Sarfaraz said that DNA samples were collected from the explosives attached to the 20-year-old suspect’s body and have been sent to Islamabad for screening.
The Crime Investigation Department and the Federal Investigation Agency are also investigating this case, he said.
According to Sarfaraz, the police have arrested several suspects in connection with the bombing, in which four policemen were injured.
Some of the arrested suspects received training in Afghanistan, he added.
The accused tried to force his way inside the house of Dr Mohammad Ibrahim Jatoi, president of the National Peoples Party in Sindh, on December 17.
There were at least 1,500 people gathered at the time when Jatoi’s private guards spotted the bomber and shot him in the leg. The explosives attached to the bomber’s body went off when a policeman turned him over after he fell to the ground.
