Guilty as charged : Convicts sentenced to 21 years in prison
Judge after scrutinising the evidences put before him observed that the prosecution successfully established its case
KARACHI:
An anti-terrorism court sentenced on Monday three men to 21 years in prison after convicting them of the offences relating to possessing illicit weapons and explosives. Zahid Shah, Abdul Jalil and Shoaib Ahmed were arrested in July last year during a raid in Sachal area. The suspects were sentenced to 14 years in jail in one explosives case and seven years in the weapons case. The investigating officer told the court that the suspects were found possessing hand grenades and weapons, without a licence and around 170 grammes of narcotics substance. The personnel of the raiding team testified against the suspects while the defence also produced its witnesses but failed to prove the suspects’ innocence. The judge, after scrutinising the evidences put before him, observed that the prosecution successfully established its case.
