Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) on Monday inducted four new members in the party's Rabita Committee, a press release stated.

"Dr A Qadir Khanzada, Advocate Gulfaraz Khattak, Aslam Shah Afridi and former zonal incharge Shabbir Qaim Khani have been inducted in the Rabita Committee," a press release stated.

The appointment of the new members came two days after the MQM chief Altaf Hussain suspended the entire Karachi Rabita (coordination) Committee of the MQM barring three members. Altaf suspended the committee because the body has been “unable to effectively perform its responsibilities despite several assurances”.

Kaiful Warah, Abdul Haseeb and Arif Khan Advocate had been spared, while the rest of the committee was advised against showing up at the party headquarters Nine Zero.

An MQM source said party chief Altaf Hussain was annoyed with the members’ tardiness and inadequate duty hours. “They were warned three days ago.”

Altaf said in a statement that a decision on the party’s corresponding policymaking body in London was expected in a day or two. However, no decision has been made as yet.
