Transport practices: Data of drivers sought
He said action would be taken against drivers found using drugs

DCO Noorul Amin Mengal directed transporters on Sunday to compile and provide his office information on all their drivers.
Addressing a meeting, the DCO said this was imperative to check road accidents.
He said a number of drivers were reported to be addicts. He said many operated vehicles under severe influence of narcotics. He said many had no valid driving licences.
He said transporters had been directed to provide particulars of drivers working for them. He said action would be taken against drivers found using drugs. He said those caught operating vehicles without driving licences would be taken to task.
The DCO also directed transporters to submit affidavits saying their drivers had valid driving licences and were fit to drive vehicles.
