Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Punjab organiser Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar on Sunday accused the government of trying to delay the local government elections.
He was talking to a PTI Youth Wing delegation.
“If the elections are delayed, the PTI will not remain silent. We will use all methods, including protest demonstrations, to oppose such a move. The PTI is determined to contest the local government elections. Our party is campaigning for the polls,” he said. Sarwar said the government was trying to “run away” from holding the local elections.
Sarwar said that the 2013 elections were rigged.
“There is no doubt that massive rigging was carried out in the 2013 general elections. No report can absolve the government of the electoral crimes it committed. The incumbent rulers have been in power in Pakistan for 25 years. However, they have failed to deliver,” he said.
He said the youth were the real strength of the PTI. “The party leadership is aware of this fact. Our mission is mobilising the youth to bring a positive change. Our youth are dedicated to wiping out corruption, lawlessness and unemployment from the country,” he said. “It is high time the government realised that people are no longer willing to believe false promises,” he said.
