KARACHI:
A syndicate committee has been formed under the supervision of the University of Karachi (KU) to review the affiliation of the Karachi Medical and Dental College (KMDC) with KU.
Affiliation committee secretary Dr Mutahir Ahmed claimed that two of those medical colleges gained permission from KU and no objection certificates (NOC) were issued to them by the university. Whereas, the other four colleges ended their affiliation with KU after receiving the government's notice but no NOC was issued to them, he added.

A syndicate committee has been formed under the supervision of the University of Karachi (KU) to review the affiliation of the Karachi Medical and Dental College (KMDC) with KU.
KMDC has requested through applications to upgrade its existing position of an affiliated college to that of a constituent college of KU.
"The committee is looking after the application and will conduct meetings with KMDC administration, before taking any final decisions," said KU registrar Moazzam Ali, who is also a member of the syndicate committee.
KMDC is the only medical and dental college that is affiliated with KU since 1992, while six other medical colleges are affiliated with Jinnah Medical College.
