Bad tyres: Dealer asked to pay Rs91,000 to buyer

A consumer court on Friday, directed the Seyyad Holding Company’s general manger to pay Rs91,000 to a customer for selling him substandard tyres.
Waqas Ahmed had filed a petition saying that he had purchased two tyres for his car from the company.
He said that the tyres had turned out to be substandard.
He said his family had escaped an accident which he blamed on one of the faulty tyres.
Ahmad said the company had later refused to replace the tyres.
He had requested the court to direct the respondent to pay him Rs5 million as damages – Rs16,000 for the cost of tyres, Rs2 million for causing him psychological torture, Rs1 million for the physical pain he had gone through, Rs1.8 million for “wasting his time”, Rs100,000 for the expenses he had incurred on litigation and Rs84,000 for miscellaneous expenses he had incurred.
