An additional district and sessions judge on Friday sought comments from the Old Anarkali SHO on a petition filed by First Capital Group CEO Aamna Taseer seeking registration of a case against her former employee over non-payment of a debt.
The court had previously sought comments from police but no one had appeared on behalf of the department.
Earlier, the petition was referred to Judge Hamid Khan on request of counsel for the suspect, Sumaira Ahmed. He submitted that the judge was hearing two other petitions involving the parties and said that it would be appropriate that the petition in question be heard by him as well.
At a previous hearing before Judge Muhammad Mazhar Saleem’s court, Advocate Sajid Bashir Sheikh had submitted power of attorney on Taseer’s behalf.
Petitioner Amna Taseer, widow of former governor Salmaan Tasser, had told the court that Ahmed, a former secretary at her Fortress Stadium office, owed her Rs300,000. She had said that cheques for Rs300,000 given to her by Ahmed were not honoured by the Standard Chartered Bank on The Mall.
Taseer had claimed that Ahmed had issued the cheques but stopped the bank from cashing them and said that she had later admitted to giving the instruction. She said that the suspect had then refused to return the outstanding sum after repeated requests. She had asked the court to direct the SHO concerned to register an FIR against Ahmed.
