Much-Needed: Infectious diseases dept set up at HFH

He said 60 beds would be reserved for dengue patients in case of an emergency

The Holy Family Hospital (HFH) has set up a separate department to deal with viral and infectious diseases. The department will be operational from July 27. The department will have 70 beds and will treat patients of dengue, Congo fever, bird flu, swine flu viruses and gastro diseases. Hospital officials say professors, associate professors and specialist doctors will check up patients visiting or admitted to the department. Allied Hospitals Principal Dr Mohammad Umar said with the establishment of the infectious diseases department, advanced health facilities would be available to patients. He said the department will also have a laboratory to conduct medical tests. He said 60 beds would be reserved for dengue patients in case of an emergency while four beds would be reserved for ICU patients.
