Population Welfare: Petition by employees adjourned

Hearing of a constitutional petition filed by the employees of the population welfare department has been adjourned till January 18, 2011.
A division bench of Sindh High Court, comprising Justice Shahid Anwar Bajwa and Justice Tufail H Ebrahim, adjourned the hearing on Monday after a representative from the department, Sakina, sought time to file comments.The department’s secretary is also among the respondents.
Nazeer Hussain and 197 other officials, from grades two to eight and serving the organisation from five to 12 years, filed the petition against the delay in the enforcement of a circular, ordering the department to give them permanent jobs instead of keeping them on contract. The cabinet division issued the circular on August 28, 2008.
