The England team is currently in the process of recovering from the unpleasant experience of getting thrashed by Australia in Ashes.

From Captain Alastair Cook’s perspective, the problems seem to outweigh the solutions by far. In these dark and disillusioning times, England is in need of a saviour. Liverpool footballers James Milner, Adam Lallana and Nathaniel Clyne may just be able to provide the advantage that Cook’s team needs in order to win Ashes.

Surprised? So were we!

The Liverpool football stars recently competed against each other and exhibited their cricketing skills Down Under. Liverpool are currently in South Australia for their pre-season tour. Rather than partaking in football, these players played cricket so that Cook & Co. could learn a thing or two from them before the Edgbaston Test.

The three Reds took on each other to face some deliveries. Milner showed some of his county talent of which he was a part of during his teens, while Lallana showed some promise with the bat. Nathaniel Clyne however, looked completely out of his depth.

England face many challenges before the third Test, such as selection problems and the fact that their batting line-up seems to have no answer for the raging Aussie pace. There is an air of dejection- with egos wounded and techniques shaken.

In these times of despondency, the England Captain will be relieved to know that his country’s multi-talented football players are eagerly waiting in the wings to bail him out!
