STP demands probe into Musharraf-MQM ties
The STP leader went on to call for a ban on both the PPP and the MQM for corruption and terrorism
HYDERABAD:
The Sindh Taraqi Pasand (STP) has called for an investigation into links between General (retd) Pervez Musharraf and the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) during the former's regime.
Addressing a press conference on Wednesday, STP chairperson Dr Qadir Magsi spoke of how during Musharraf's regime the MQM grew in political strength while, allegedly, its supply of weapons and militant wing were also bolstered.
Magsi also came down hard on the Pakistan Peoples Party, reiterating charges of corruption during the party's seven years in government. "Sindh has been infested with numerous problems which can't be solved by only changing the [provincial] ministers. They should be manacled and sent to jail," he said.
The STP leader went on to call for a ban on both the PPP and the MQM for corruption and terrorism, respectively. "The PPP, also known as the Zardari league, and the MQM have been destroying Sindh," alleged Magsi.
He also criticised the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz's federal government for what he described as its alleged connivance with the PPP and the MQM. "The corrupt officials are flying out of Pakistan. It seems the federal government is not serious in helping Sindh get rid of terrorists and corrupt people."
