The first batch of Pakistan’s first ever Riverine Amphibious Police Force (RAPF) – established primarily to protect parts of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) – has started its training at Police College Sihala. The RAPF will also stop infiltration of Baloch insurgents into Punjab, protect railway tracks, counter terror and avert any effort at sabotage.
Talking to The Express Tribune, Commandant Police College Sihala DIG Dr Sohail Habib Tajik said the RAPF’s training will include swimming, use of weapons, martial arts and other techniques to protect the border areas of the Punjab province.

Of the total 1,650 RAPF personnel, the first batch of 700 constables were enrolled at the police college Sihala for their training, after which they will be posted at Attock, Mianwali, Bhakkar, Layyah, DG Khan, Muzaffargarh, Rahim Yar Khan and Rajanpur – places where River Indus flows.
