Political wrangling: Dissident leader casts doubt over PTI’s policies

PESHAWAR:
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf dissident MNA Gulzar Khan has said his party lacks political maturity and has failed to deliver its promises due to “illogical” policies.

Speaking at a news conference at Peshawar Press Club on Wednesday, Gulzar cast a shadow of doubt on PTI’s claim that the health and revenue sectors had been streamlined. “These are just tall claims,” said Gulzar.

According to the PTI MNA from Peshawar, improvements have yet to take place in other spheres as well.

“At police stations, the situation has not changed,” he said. “Work takes place at the same pace as it used to in the past.”

Cordial relations

Gulzar insisted matters related to parliament should be resolved in an appropriate manner.

“I had advised PTI Chairman Imran Khan to take up the rigging allegations in Parliament,” he said. “I don’t understand why PTI held a sit-in in Islamabad when the matter had already been brought to the Parliament.”

The PTI leader belongs to a dissident group of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa lawmakers who the party was planning to expel for refusing to quit the assemblies during the Azadi March in 2014.

However, Gulzar said he and Imran respect each other even though both leaders have political differences.

“I refused to tender my resignation since I had been elected by the people,” he added.

Earlier this year, Gulzar said he would resign from the national legislature if corruption charges were proved against him.
