PPP announces deadline for LG candidates
Each application should also have details of which positions and from how many years they are serving

The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has announced a submission deadline for candidates interested in contesting the local bodies' elections scheduled to be held in September.
PPP Karachi division president Syed Najmi Alam has asked all the interested candidates to submit their applications by next week. All party members who are interested in contesting the elections in September should submit the applications along with their documents, such as degrees and basic information, to their district heads within a week, Alam announced during an Eid Milan party organised by the PPP.
PPP Karachi information secretary Latif Mugha told The Express Tribune that candidates are supposed to submit their applications with their union councils and district names and numbers from the place where they are interested in contesting the elections from.
"Each application should also have details of which positions and from how many years they are serving," he explained. "We want to know whether or not they have contested in any local bodies' elections in the past."
Alam also announced that applicants applying for the post of chairperson and vice-chairperson of the union council have to pay Rs1,000 each while those applying for the post of a councillor have to pay Rs500 each.
