KARACHI: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) media cell volunteers have developed an android application that will enable the party to gauge their position in the upcoming local government polls.

The theme of the application is, 'Let's Change Karachi Together'. It is specially designed to register PTI voters and members in Karachi. The data entered in this application will be used to further strategise and plan programmes to ensure a smooth local bodies' election campaign.

The application is being launched by the party to verify the existing party workers, supporters and to register new members. At present, the application is only available for Android users but the party is planning to release the Windows version soon.

PTI Karachi president Ali Zaidi said that the people of the city are educated and take interest in politics. "This is the internet era and people of Karachi take a lot of interest in using online media," he said. This will be a different way to engage the residents, he added.

Zaidi said that the features of this application include people giving suggestions to party officials. "Although our Twitter and Facebook accounts are there to connect us directly with our supporters, this application will prove to be a new turn in the politics of Karachi," he added.

The size of this application is 1.5MB and the current version available is 1.1. The application requires android 2.2 to be downloaded.
