Killer water: 10 people drown in different parts of Sindh

Two residents of Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Karachi, drown in Keejhar Lake in Thatta

HYDERABAD:
At least 10 people drowned while swimming or accidentally falling into waterways in separate incidents on Sunday and Monday.

Four young men, including three friends, drowned while swimming in Kalri Baglihar (KB) Feeder, which supplies water to Karachi, near alManzar point at Kotri Barrage. Two bodies, identified as those of 25-year-old Shahzeb and 27-year-old Ali Murtaza, were fished out while the bodies of Faizan Ali, 21, and Hamid Ali, 23, could not be recovered until Monday evening.

Similarly, two residents of Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Karachi, drowned in Keenjhar Lake in Thatta on Monday. Local volunteers pulled out the bodies of 27-year-old Salman Pathan and 25-year-old Suhail Pathan from the lake.


Two men also drowned in Nara Canal in Khipro taluka of Sanghar district. The body of 30-year-old Nawab Khan Samejo was recovered in the morning while that of Ali Gul Samejo was pulled out by the evening.

Four girls, who had come to visit their village in Karyo Ganwar from Karachi on Eid, fell in a saline water channel in Badin. Villagers rescued two of them but 14-year-old Fehmida Sehto and 13-year-old Shazia Sehto died. Their bodies had not been recovered until sunset.
