Teen sailor set to make history
SYDNEY:
Australian schoolgirl Jessica Watson is set to complete her round-the-world solo sail by early next month and become the youngest person to ever complete the epic journey.
After more than six months at sea, during which the 16-year-old has withstood a brutal storm in the Atlantic and 33-foot waves, Watson is now back in Australian waters and heading east for Sydney. “At the moment it’s all going well,” said her spokesperson Andrew Fraser, adding that Watson was covering about 110 nautical miles per day.
