ISLAMABAD:
Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee Chairman Mufti Muneebur Rehman announced on Friday the sighting of Shawwal moon in many parts of the country, saying Eidul Fitr will be celebrated on Saturday.

“The sky was overcast in many parts of the country Friday evening,” he said while addressing a news conference after presiding over a meeting of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee.

However, they have received authentic testimonies of the moon sighting from various cities, including Qila Saifullah, Qila Abdullah, Jacobabad, etc.

On the basis of these testimonies, the committee announced that Eidul Fitr will be celebrated across the country on Saturday.

Many key religious scholars and Met officials were also present in the meeting.

The meetings of zonal Ruet-e-Hilal committees in all the four provinces of the country were held simultaneously to collect testimonies.

Meanwhile, a large number of Muslim countries including Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, United Arab Emirates, Iran and Indonesia celebrated Eid on Friday. Parts of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa also marked the first day of Eid on the same day.

However, Oman and Morocco will celebrate the auspicious day on Saturday.
