Police encounter: Four robbers gunned down

Police said on Friday that four robbers had been killed in a shootout in Khanpur.
Police said the suspects stopped vehicles belonging to Umar Farooq, a Rahim Yar Khan-based businessman and his associates. Police said they had fled after collecting Rs500,000 from them. A police team from the Khanpur City police station had pursued the suspects after being tipped-off. Police said the robbers had fired at the policemen while the party was chasing them. Officials said two of the suspects had been critically injured in the consequent exchange of fire. Police said their accomplices had fled. Officials said police had seized Rs16,700, a pistol and a shotgun from them. Police said the injured men were being taken to a hospital when they died. Officials said an autopsy of the deceased had been conducted.
