Resident says no rescue work has been undertaken by the government

Chitral’s residents are trying to pick up the pieces after infrastructure was ruined by heavy rain followed by flash floods. According to insiders, infrastructure in Ghoch, Charoon and Reshan Koragh was destroyed in Thursday’s inclement weather.
A bridge leading to Ghoch was swept away while another bridge near Koragh was flooded. Speaking to The Express Tribune on Friday, Mastuj Additional Assistant Commissioner Muhammad Saleh said two houses and a hotel were damaged in Koragh. In Saroz Jal, four houses and six rooms of a hotel were destroyed.

Shah Faridul Haq, a resident, said the flash floods have washed away the belongings of the people. “No rescue work has been undertaken by the government,” he said. The district administration held a meeting on Friday led by DC Aminul Haq to ensure the rehabilitation of those affected by the natural disaster. The administration decided to provide tents, food and medical facilities for the affected population.
