Security detail : Over 3,000 policemen to guard Eid congregations
Cops will also be deputed at nine bus stands in the city on chaand raat and Eid holidays
ISLAMABAD:
Islamabad Police have finalised the security plan for Eid day with over 3,000 policemen to guard mosques and imambargahs during Eid prayers.
IGP Tahir Alam Khan has directed all police officers to remain alert and ensure implementation of the security plan. Police say a total of 3,500 police officials will be deputed at 920 mosques and 40 imambargahs in Islamabad during Eid congregations.
Cops will also be deputed at nine bus stands in the city on chaand raat and Eid holidays. Police had also asked the transporters to ensure security at their stands and frisk passengers before letting them in. Respective SHOs will be responsible for security of the bus stations.
Contingents of reserve police will also be on the move as part of the security arrangements. Markets, shopping centres, parks and other public places will also be guarded and monitored.
Contingents of Rangers and police commandos will assist the police in security duties.
Police squads have also been formed to patrol in urban as well as rural areas falling in Islamabad Capital Territory jurisdiction. Keeping in view the visitors’ rush, special security measures have been taken for Shakarparian, Daman-e-Koh, Rose and Jasmine Garden, Lake View Park and Centaurus Mall.
Respective sub-divisional police officers and SHOs will be responsible for security of worship places in their jurisdictions. They will be provided additional force if needed in their areas.
Police said steps had also been taken to check burglaries and ensure protection of properties during the holidays.
