The Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (TEVTA), in collaboration with the National Highway and Motorway Police (NHMP), will offer a three-month light transport vehicle (LTV) driving course.
The course will be open for unemployed youth from next month at 35 road safety training institutes (RSTIs) of the NHMP across the province.
An agreement in this regard was signed between the TEVTA and the NH&MP at TEVTA Secretariat.
NH&MP Inspector General Muhammad Saleem Bhatti, Central Zone DIG Mirza Faran Baig, Sheikhupura Training College Deputy Commandant Athar Waheed, TEVTA General managers Hamid Ghani Anjum, Abdul Qayyum, Azhar Iqbal Shad, Akhtar Abbas Bharwana and Sarfraz Anwar were present on the occasion.
TEVTA chairperson Irfan Qaiser Sheikh said that the curriculum developed by TEVTA would be adopted for the LTV course training. “The trainees will be paid a Rs1,000 stipend per month. Candidates between the ages of 18 and 30 who have passed the matriculation examination will be eligible for the training,” he said.
The TEVTA will also help the candidates who complete the training get jobs. Bhatti said the NH&MP was working to maintain the security of the national highways.
“The NHMP will be responsible for the provision of training and learning materials including manuals, stationary to all the trainees during their training,” he said.
