LAHORE: The departmental promotion committee will meet in August to discuss promotion of nurses, Adviser to CM on Health Salman Rafique said on Wednesday.

He was speaking to a delegation of the Young Nurses’ Association. Health Secretary Jawwad Rafique Malik was also present at the occasion.

Members of the YNA discussed with Rafique matters pertaining to a delay in their promotions and the dilapidated condition of the nurses’ hostel at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital.

Rafique said 1,500 nurses had been promoted recently. He said the deferred cases will be considered at the next DPC meeting. He said the revised seniority list of nurses had been uploaded on the Health Department’s website and objections had been invited from stake holders in 15 days. He said the department had received very few objections so far.

Additional Secretary Adnan Zafar said the DPC would try and take up as many nurses’ cases as possible. He said earlier the department had sent a requisition for 1,200 nurses to the PPSC and recently, another requisition for 800 nurses had been forwarded.

Malik told a senior officer of the Planning and Development Department to check the nurses’ hostel at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital and submit a report on its condition.
