CIA police arrested 15 members of a gang of robbers on Tuesday and recovered stolen items worth more than Rs3.3 million from them. 

The gang, comprising eight women and seven men, was headed by Shamshad alias Pathani.

The CIA SP Muhammad Umar Virk said the women used to look for work as domestic help in posh localities or would pretend to deliver sweets. They would then hold the residents hostage and call their accomplices over to the house.


Virk said he had personally contacted complainants of various house robberies and had obtained information about the gang. In light of the information they had gathered, the police had managed to arrest Shamshad and 14 members of the gang including Abida Bibi, Naveza Bibi, Salma, Sabra, Mahek, Iqra Shahzadi, Nadia alias Nadi, Muhammad Farooq, Waheed Qaiser, Muhammad Sohail, Muhammad Nadeem, Tahir Mahmood, Waqas Ahmad and Muhammad Nadeem, he said.

He said the suspects had confessed to carrying out 19 house robberies in the Defence Housing Authority, Gulberg, Iqbal Town, Nawab Town, Lytton Road, Ghaziabad and Nishtar Colony.

Shamshad had also robbed the house of Silk Bank chairman Shahram Raza. He said Nadia, Farooq and Waheed Qaiser were proclaimed offenders and cases had been registered against them at Shahdara Town, Green Town, Ghaziabad and Harbanspura police stations.
