Cheating the public: NAB recovers Rs1.8 billion in land fraud case
Amount has been recovered from the present management of Al-Hamra Private Limited and Al Hamra Avenue Private Limited
The National Accountability Bureau (NAB), Rawalpindi has successfully recovered Rs1,832 million from a company in a fraud case.
The amount has been recovered from the present management of Al-Hamra Private Limited and Al Hamra Avenue Private Limited through its chief executive and other senior officials.
According to a NAB press release issued on Monday, the previous management of the two companies deceived the Shaheen Foundation and its members by inducing them to book plots in
their projects and received around Rs1,258 million from them.
The subjects failed to hand over the plots and instead the land was sold to other parties.
Moreover, the companies deprived the members of Shaheen Foundation from their hard-earned money.
During the NAB inquiry, the present sponsors showed willingness in writing to return Rs573 million as
profit in addition to the principal amount of Rs1,258 million.
NAB accepted the voluntary return application made by the companies and an agreement between the management and Shaheen Foundation has been signed. The agreement ensured the recovery of the amount for disbursement among the affectees.
NAB inducts new staffers
NAB has also inducted new staffers including junior investigation officers, assistant directors, deputy directors and others after conducting tests through the NTS.
According to a press release issued by the NAB on Monday, against 134 vacant positions, a total of 46,544 aspirants applied, and to keep the recruitment process transparent, written and psychological tests were outsourced to the National Testing Service.
Candidates who had cleared written and psychological tests were called for interviews by a NAB selection committee and they were selected on the basis of their marks and interview performance. The provincial, regional and merit quota has been observed as prescribed by government of Pakistan, the press release said further.
