Social responsibility: Beaconhouse donates Rs35m for 21 schools
The funds will be used to set up computer labs with over 300 computers, furniture and 21 uninterrupted power supply
Beaconhouse School System has donated Rs35million to the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) to set up computer laboratories in 21 government schools in Punjab and Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).
The funds were handed over by Beaconhouse Executive Editor (North) Nassir Kasuri to NDMA Disaster Risk Reduction Member at a ceremony at Beaconhouse Margalla Campus on July 9, said a press release.
The funds will be used to set up computer labs with over 300 computers, furniture and 21 uninterrupted power supply (UPS) units as well as an additional Rs2.1 million for the schools.
The 21 beneficiary schools were affected by 2014 floods. “The work will be executed by the Punjab Provincial Disaster Management Authority (and the AJK State Disaster Management Authority. It will be directed by the NDMA and overseen by Beaconhouse. The funds were raised by parents and Beaconhouse staff members,” the statement said. The donation will assist NDMA in its rehabilitation efforts.
Beaconhouse has donated almost Rs80 million over the last two years under its social responsibility activities. The beneficiaries include temporarily displaced people of the tribal areas as well as those affected by floods and rains.
