Performance: ‘PR has controlled expenditures’

He also said the PR had made a record progress in freight and passenger sectors

Railways Minister Khwaja Saad Rafique said on Monday 217 passengers had travelled on an Eid train from Karachi on July 11, 327 on July 12 and 450 seats had been reserved from Karachi on July 13. “Criticism of the [Eid] train operation is not fair,” he told a press conference at PR Headquarters. He said the PR had controlled its expenditures and brought down the deficit. He also said the PR had made a record progress in freight and passenger sectors. He also announced a 50 per cent reduction in fares of Eid special trains on July 14, 15 and 16. All Eid trains have been allowed stopover in Multan and Sadiqabad. PR chairperson Parveen Agha, Chief Executive Officer Javaid Anwar and Adviser Anjum Pervaiz were also present.
