FAISALABAD:

Police registered an FIR on Monday against six men for gang rape. The suspects included the victim’s husband and two brothers-in-law.

Shazia Bibi*, a resident of Chak 6-JB, told The Express Tribune that she had married Shakoor, a resident of Chak 7-JB, a few years ago. She said her husband was a drug addict and lost his job a few months later.

She said soon, he started encouraging her into prostitution. “He told me it was the only way to make ends meet,” she said.

Bibi said, when she refused, her husband and his brothers Ibrahim and Fida Hussain beat her and locked her up.

She said she was also raped by Ibrahim and Fida Hussain.

Bibi said she fled to her parents’ house when she got a chance and started living there.

“My husband and his brothers reached my parents house and forcibly took me back,” she said. She said she was taken back to her husband’s house where she was raped by five men, including her husband.

Bibi said her brother had filed a petition in court and a bailiff had recovered her from her husband’s custody.

A Nishatabad police spokesman said the court had ordered police to register the case against the suspects.

He said police had registered a case against six people, including Shakoor, Ibrahim and Fida Hussain.
